Going Above and Beyond a Past Client Needs Help
I had just got home from root canal on my tooth . My whole face was numb . I am not brave when it comes to the dentist ;but this was really not as bad as I had expected . I had just laid down to rest and I received a call from a man who was frantic . "You sold my father's house eight years ago and I need the paperwork by tomorrow " Hold on stop I am not in the office and I also changed Re/Max offices since then . He did not hear me and just kept on talking .
I had to repeat myself several times as he told me who he was the address of the house , his fathers name and the location of the office I worked at . Listen please I told him I am not in the office I just had root canal and I am a little woozy . I cannot look anything up for you at this moment .(it was 4pm) I will call you tomorrow and get all your information and we can you what you need . "Oh what if I call the other office I know where it is I have the number maybe they can get me the paperwork " he said . I told him he could do that if he wished but I would call him tomorrow as we would need to call the title company anyway to get the information and it was late in the day . I was pretty sure I had his information and name of the title company . I told him if he wanted to call the other Re/Max that would be fine and I continued to tell him what to say when he called .
The next day when I called him back he had the called the other office who referred him to the title company .They in turn gave him another phone number to call . I asked him why they gave him another phone number . He did not know the answer . I called the title company and they put the owner of the tiltle company on the phone . He said Hannah he wants all the paper work associated with the sale of the property . I told him he just needs the HUD 1 sheet . Oh that is different I can do that . I will look it up and email it to you as soon as possible . I then called back the son and told him what i was getting for him . Yes he said that is what the attorney said I need . The HUD 1 Settlement sheet .
Sometimes our clients don't know what they need . They need our help . Thankfully I was able to understand what it was that he needed . He was very upset when he called me. Apparently an attorney told him to call the Real Estate Agent for the HUD- 1 Settlement Sheet. He did not write it down and was in a panic . When he heard me say what I was getting for him he remembered . I was glad I listed and sold the property and was able to track down the title company so quickly for him .They in turn were able to get him the documents he needed in a very timely manner .
I do understand that many changes are coming .The name of the Hud1 Settlement Sheet may be changing along with many other things to protect the consumers . In this case the seller 's son has no idea what he really needed or what a HUD- 1 was . Respa is looking into changing this and we as Real Estate Agents may be changing the way we have been doing business as soon as August 2015 .
