What's in the News Philadelphia & Bucks CountyBensalem in The News

I live in the NE section of Philadelphia Pennsylvania right on the border of Bucks County Pa . I live in a gated waterfront community with  amazing views and wonderful neighbors  I also have lived and worked  in  Bensalem township for approx 24  years   I  worked at Re/Max in Bensalem for over 22 years I raised my children in Bensalem  and my family still lives there . My grandchildren go to Bensalem Schools and my daughter works for the school district . My office  that I travel to almost daily is now at the Re/Max in Feasterville /Trevose  location also in Bucks County . I also am affiliated with the Re/Max  Eastern office on Grant ave in NE Philadelphia . So there you have a little history of my current life

Let's talk news in Bensalem : They are Holding a Town Hall Meeting About The New Tax and The Wrong Phone Number That Was  Supplied to Residents on The Letter in Case They Had Any Questions Regarding the Tax

Here Is The Article I Found on the new tax  -PLEASE READ

Bensalem council urging residents to attend EIT town hall meeting
Bensalem Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo and council members are urging residents to attend a Feb. 17 town hall meeting to discuss a newly enacted one percent earned income tax (EIT). The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Maltese Room at the Cornwells Fire House, 2049 Bristol Pike. Residents have complained that township officials have not done a good job informing and educating residents about the tax. Resident Tony Williams said a recent letter sent by the Keystone Collections Group was confusing and instructed residents with questions to call Keystone, but the number listed is incorrect. Keystone is the agency that collects the EIT for Bensalem and other Bucks County municipalities that have the tax. Bensalem council members that voted to enact the EIT said they did so reluctantly, but that they saw no other way to close a large gap between revenues and expenditures for 2016 other than drastically cutting police and other services, which they didn’t want to do. Several other Lower Bucks municipalities already levy an EIT of varying percentages, including Middletown, Bristol Township, Lower Southampton, Newtown, Newtown Township, Northampton, Upper Makefield and Wrightstown.

I have heard positive and negative comments from  homeowners in Bensalem .Some are glad that apartment dwellers are now going to share the tax burden . They feel they have been given a free ride for many years living tax free .  Others feel the casinos are not paying their fair share  and wondering where all the revenue is disappearing too . They want answers . It should be a very interesting meeting

Now to read what is going on in the City of Philadelphia : I found this extremely fascinating . I was born and raised n Philly .There is a section of row houses near the entrance of the Philadelphia Expressway  called Logan . At one time there were rows of houses there . They are gone . They collapsed . Yes they  are gone as are many  houses in the city that just collapse . Some fatally injuring or killing people . It seems to be an ongoing problem in out fair City of Brotherly Love .  Looks like they may have found something to fight this problem .My question is "WHY WAIT"    Let's Read The Article

Philadelphia

To monitor dangerous buildings, city inspectors may look to drones
Investigators from the City Controller’s Office have identified 100 vacant and dangerous buildings throughout the city that is says are on the verge of collapse. Continuing this work monitoring dangerous buildings, the City Controller’s Office demonstrated how a drone can provide sky-high views of damaged properties in mere seconds and more importantly, safely. Guided by a professional videographer at a cost of less than $1,000, the drone took photos of portions of Point Breeze and Hunting Park and a section of West Philadelphia. The drone provided a portrait of a city in decay, displaying crumbling walls and buckling roofs not easily seen from the street. Controller Alan Butkovitz said he had suggested the use of drones to L&I officials, whose response was “extremely positive.” L&I Commissioner David Perri said the agency may start a pilot project in the summer.
