Looking for investment Property with HelpfulHannah Philadelphia Pa

Today was a look at what we call in Philadelphia Pa. Spec houses. This is when contractors or/and investors look at houses to fix up and sell or rent for a profit. It was a tee shirt and jeans day.The weather was really rather humid but cool around 70 degrees good day for looking at houses. We were looking in a section called Fishtown. These homes were what we call row houses or at one time called townhouses.I really don't know what you would call them now except disasters. It is hard to understand how a once nice home becomes a smelly shell of house.

They were all in horrid condition. It made me wonder who had lived in these homes and the stories behind them. There were homes that had dissapeared on the streets. They were just were torn down and an empty lot was left in its place. The sad part was that the house next to it might be in  beautiful condition. Some of the homes were being restored;but some were still in bad condition.

The investors really wanted to see a certain house in Fishtown and this was the main reason for our visit. When we opened the door you had to stay to the left because the floors were not very sturdy. The smell was mildew and in my opinion moldy.I made it to the living-room for about 3 minutes then I went outside. The smell was ghastly and the property was really not safe. They disappeared with their flashlights for quite sometime. I did start to worry and called to them . They laughed at me and told me they were with the birds.Apparently there were a family of pigeons living upstairs in the hole in the roof I guess..There were more stories with the house. All I will say is we all agreed they are not buying it!

Good morning Hannah, it is always sad to see those homes falling down. Glad you all weren't sucked into some huge hole in the floor!

Hannah, Some places can't be saved and this looks like one of them...or maybe the entire building.  Still, they are being purchased for the land and then being knocked down.

Good Morning Andrea..That makes two of us..It is sad that a once nice home becomes such a mess..Thanks

Carole..When the guys were upstairs they said they could see into the neighbors bedroom..I would hate to see a pigeon peeking in on me..I think I would try to buy it and knock it down if I lived next door..Thanks

Janice..Well thats what these guys thought too..

This is sad to see...Sometimes it truly is better to tear down & till the soil & begin anew.

I see so many inner city bargains and always wonder just how bad they can be.  I can't belive that they end up in that condition.  Every city has people needing a place to live, even the homeless would take better care of a property.  Terrible.
