Help is on the Way for Pa's Jobless:reports Helpfulhannah

Here is some good news from Robert T.Casey Senator for Pennsylvania. I have many friends and neighbors that will be glad to read this article. These are people who have been working for over 20 years at their jobs and suddenly were laid off from their jobs. I have been speaking to them periodically they have not been having any luck finding work.

Help is on the way say's Senator Robert Casey:

HELP IS ON THE WAY FORhelp is on the way for pa jobless:reports helpfulhannah
PENNSYLVANIA'S JOBLESS WORKERS

Unemployment Insurance extension signed into law today;
COBRA health care subsidy introduced

Today, President Obama signed legislation giving Pennsylvania workers who exhaust their unemployment insurance up to 20 weeks of additional coverage. This helps workers make it through until their next job. Unemployment benefits also have one of the biggest bang-for-the-buck stimulative effects as this money is spent and pumped back into the economy. Click here to learn more about the unemployment extension.

Next month, the "COBRA" subsidy, which helps unemployed workers and their families afford temporary health care coverage, will expire. That is why I joined Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio to introduce legislation to extend this subsidy for six months. Click here to learn more about the "COBRA" health care subsidy.

Helping unemployed workers should be a priority as the economy pulls out of the recession, but we must also help businesses grow and create jobs. The legislation signed into law today by the President also extends and expands the homebuyer tax credit which has been cited as a boost to the housing industry and that is helping to put money in people’s pockets. The bill also included tax relief to help businesses who are suffering losses and allow them to keep employees or expand operations.

As the recovery bill signed into law in February continues to be implemented we must look at these proposals and others to help those suffering in the recession and to help create jobs and invest in our future.

Funny - real funny! After doing everything in their power to eliminate jobs or send them offshore obama and his minions extend unemployment. Why not find jobs instead of eliminate them? At some point they will not be able to print enough money to pay the benefits and that time may be coming soon.

obama-math - only $248,000 each for jobs 'saved or created' according to the govt. Anyone that received a raise is counted as a job created! Of the small percentage of contracts reviewed by Associated Press the 30,000 jobs 'saved or created' was proven the numbers were 'obama-mathed' by as many as 10 times. A company with 54 counted positions had 5, a company with over 4000 had less than 1000.

LIZ..I know I have many neighbors who will sleep better knowing this..;)

John..You seem to be very knowledgeable ..about the ratios ..all I know is that there are many out of work..and many staying in positions that they are afraid to leave in fear there aren't better positions out there..SAD..wouldn't you say so..Thank you .

Hannah- I just hope we can find a way to create jobs to replace the ones that have been lost before the program runs out of money. Not to say anything about all the poor folks who were independent contractors and are not entitled to unemployment.

Hannah, that is good news for those whose benefits run out. Like Sue said, we need jobs! Jobs and more jobs! I don't have an answer, and the issues are staggering. And pointing fingers won't help now. We didn't get in this fix overnight, not even in a year. This has been in the making for a long long time. Greed certainly played its part in this mess. So I guess climbing out will take time too.

This is great news Hannah.  Thanks for sharing it.  Hard not to be nervous for our way of life when the people we look to as clients are out of work!  Very sobering.

Suesan..I was thinking the same thing this morning about the independent contractors..What do they do ??

Andrea..Unemployment is up over 10% and rising..What happened to the creating of new jobs?

Susan..Sobering?? May drive me to drink..No I am only kidding..You are absolutely right it is hard not to be shaken when our friends , neighbors, and clients, are slowly losing their jobs...These numbers are increasing how can they say we are not in a recession..maybe Wall Street is not but Main Street ..looks like it still is..Thanks

Hannah, This will help people and hopefully the unemployment will turn around.  I was under Cobra once and so glad I found a job but was able to keep my health insurance while I looked.
