HelpfulHannah reviews U.S.Inspect Home Inspection Company

helpfulhannah reviews us inspect home inspection companyU.S.inspect  has been a home inspection company I have used over the years. Every year they have invited me to a wonderful party at the Real Estate Convention in Atlantic City New Jersey. It was a fabulous 5 course dinner at Cesar's Casino. They did not invite everyone only a select few. This year I received a letter thanking me and apologizing as they were not having their annual Holiday party. It seems the recession is hitting everyone.

This news will not stop me from recommending U.S.Inspect Home Inspection Company to my clients. U.S. Inspections has always done an excellent home inspection. They stood by their reports whenever my buyers had questions even after the sale. The inspectors were there to assist and answer questions.

here is a short article from their new website

Chantilly VA.—U.S. Inspect, the nation’s largest employee based commercial and residential home inspection company, announced today that they have re-launched their Web site in order to better provide home- and inspection-related educational resources to their clients and to the real estate community.

Here is a short version on the new blog page  read

Radon gas is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, and it’s the second leading cause of lung cancer for smokers. It’s a radioactive gas that you can’t see, smell or taste. It comes from the soil and is pulled into your home due to pressure differences between the inside and outside of the home.

Check it out I think as a home owner and as an agent you will find it interesting

Hannah, thanks. I haven't used them for a while so it brought them up on my radar screen. Too bad about the dinner.

Just a word of caution about ASHI, though, as well as all home inspection trade associations.

It is far more important to check into the home inspectors references, experience, number of inspections performed, and personality (aka bedside manners) than it is to rely on the trade association. All of the trade associations have the same basic Standards of Practice, but to use ASHI as an example, to become a candidate or associate member, one merely needs to send in one's check for membership dues. Then one gets a year or so to perform 250 fee-paid inspections, i.e., on-the-job training using real-life people buying homes as their case studies. It's not much different at SPREI, AAHI, NAHI, or HIF.

There also are many great inspectors who are not members of any trade associations, mainly because the trade associations spend too much of their time bashing each other rather than focusing on serving the public. So don't neglect "independent" inspectors either.

And for the record, I'm a member of the International Association of Certifed Home Inspectors, the world's largest home inspector trade association, as well as the only one which requires that applicants pass a knowledge-based examination BEFORE they will cash a check for membership dues.

Hannah, so many other people are tightening their belts this year. For some it's become a matter of survival, which may lead to other problems done the road with people that will push anything just to get the transaction. Sorry you're going to go hungry one evening.
