Dust if you Must
LADIES!!! Remember...a layer of dust protects the Wood beneath it.
A house becomes a home when you can write
'I love you' on the furniture.
I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect -
in case someone came over.
Finally I realized one day that no one came over;
they were all out living life and having fun!
NOW, when people visit,
I don't have to explain the 'condition’ of my home
They are more interested in hearing about the things
I've been doing while I was away living life and having fun.
If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice.
Life is short. Enjoy it!
Dust if you must .......
but wouldn't it be better to paint a picture
or write a letter, bake cookies or a cake
and lick the spoon or plant a seed,
ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there’s not much time . . ... ...
with soda to drink , rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must,
but the world's out there with the sun in your eyes,
the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around, again.
Dust if you must , but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go - and go you must -
you, yourself will make more dust!

Hannah: Great post! It gives a different perspective on life and responsibilities.
I think that with age we are getting wiser...
Those are some great thoughts... I do feel that the dust one was the best. Dirt on a window, insures that the glass will not scratch... HAHAH... :)

In the big picture of life dust doesn't matter.
Good luck and success.

Hannah, some years back , when I used to travel a great deal, and was living alone, I had a visitor that tried to make a point. As I would be gone for days at a time, my mom and dad would drive by the house just to check things out. I would monitor my phone from afar, and I had a message from my mom that they had been by the house and she had left me a note on the furniture.
When I got home, I went looking for the note and as I didn't find it, I saw what was left behind. PIG written on the dust on the furniture
Lou..No truer words were spoken....
Ed.. What wonderful story ..thanks for sharing
Have a wonderful weekend

Love it, love it, LOVE IT, Hannah.
Hannah, I just wait until the dust bunnies get big enough to hop off to the neighbors house...
I can dig that, Hannah. Quite the beautiful wisdom from that unknown.
Hi Hannah. I have always loved Dust If You Must as a poem with us ALL returning to dust in the end.
Very amusing, Hannah. My Mom (who worked), made my brother and I do the vacuuming and dusting every Saturday before we could go out and play. It never did us any harm and the house was "tidy" :-)
I had to tell my wife about this post. My wife leaves the dusting up to me.
When folks ask if I have pets, Hannah, I tell them I have dust bunnies!
Hannah, very cute post. My kids have a habit of running their fingers along the wood furniture so I can see the little lines. I don't mind because one day I'm going to miss seeing those little lines when they are moved out.
