Friday's Photo : Forsythia Golden Bells of Sunshine with Cat

Today I stopped and cut some of the beautiful forsythias flowers that bloom and surround the grounds of Delaire Landing in Spring. I put these long beautiful stems of golden sunshine in a vase on my coffee table When Cleo my cat thought I was busy she went over to sniff things out. I was surprised to learn these lovely flowers originate in the Far East.

Hopefully the cat will leave them alone Hannah Williams so you can enjoy them for a week or so.

Good evening Hannah Williams ,

I love forsythias! We had beautiful forsythia bushes  on our lot growing up and they always signaled Spring when they began to bloom. We always made wonderful bouquets for Easter...wonderful memories growing up!

Carol Williams  Finally took time to cut a few stems. They look so beautiful

Bob "RealMan" Timm  Cleo admires flowers she never does more than smells them. She is one smart kitty

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR  I can't believe I waited so long to take a snip. These long stems of gold look so gorgeous. No wonder they make artificial ones. I also remember these growing as a child in my neighborhood

Thank  you for taking the time to comment

Hannah- I love that you keep fresh flowers at home!!!  And, I'll bet Cleo loves that you do too.

Kathy Streib  I usually buy them but they are growing all over and soon they will be gone. Believe me, the few I snipped have not made a dent and I read it is good to cut them they will grow fuller.   Yes, Cleo loves flowers I think she is an old soul come back. She only sniffs the flowers never touches them.

Thanks for commenting - Happy Friday

I wonder who got more joy from the forsythias...you or our your cat, Cleo. In any event you can both enjoy their beauty.

Hannah, Yes it's that time of the year when forsythia are blooming all over. I' don't know why, but I've never brought them inside. They make such a nice arrangement!

What a lovely picture, Hannah. Growing up in NY we saw forsythia bloom everywhere in spring and I always loved the flower. Don't see so much of it here in Charlotte, unfortunately.

Good morning Hannah. What a neat picture and curious little cat as well.

Good morning Hannah - I love forsythia.  I recall have many on our property in Trevose.  It was beautiful this time of year.

Forsythia! A beautiful spring bloomer. I also love your description - poetic. Bernie\ is great about bringing home bouquets - currently we have pussy willows in our vase.

We have a couple of forsythias, but they've never really thrived.  Probably a combo of deer munching, soil and too much shade.  But we do enjoy the blooms they give us!

Beautiful flowers indeed and I think anyone passing by would want to do as Cleo did and give them a little sniff.

John Juarez  I just came back from the Farmers market and when I walked in the door these flowers took my breathe away

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400  I never did either but you see them in artificial and can purchase by the stem. they are expensive too. I can see why they look lovely

Thank you both for commenting

Nina Hollander these golden flowers are all over. So glad I snipped these as when I walked in today they took my breath away and made me thankful

Sheila Anderson My Cleo loves these flowers as much as me I catch here admiring them quite often She just takes a sniff

Grant - such a pity that they bloom for such a short time when they are done the bushes are not at all attractive

Barbara Todaro April Showers bring May flowers and maker everything look  so fresh they do something to the mind and spirit

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD  I also have pussy willows in a vase mixed with silk cherry blossoms - looks amazing - I must say after having these golden stems when they go out of season will most likely pick up some silk ones to take their place

Bill I have thought about snipping these but never have done it. Wow what time I have wasted. Went to the back of the bush and only cut a few plus read on Google it is healthy for them to be cut. Will be grown back multi.

Brian England  Most people with cats say their cats eat flowers, not Cleo. Once with an artificial arrangement, she knocked one out.  She was very upset she let me know tapped me on the wrist and went over to it. I told her no worries and fixed it. Now she never touches only sniffs

Thanks for your input

Hannah,

Now that is one plant I don't see around here, and it gorgeous.  It is a great place for Cleo to pose...the background just highlights her beauty even more.  A

Hannah Williams - What a lovely photo. I'm always fascinated to see that cats are drawn to flowers indoors. They never let us forget, take time to smell the roses or whatever flowers are there for you to enjoy. Your Cleo is very intelligent and she is so lovely to look at herself!

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP  I think Cleo is very intelligent also and sometimes think she is an old soul.
